I made this page because initially I called my blog Pan. This was inspired by my idealistic notion that I am still as young as I feel!! I then tried to be a bit clever and started trying to make up an acronym out of the letters. I eventually came up with "procrastinating about nothing" which implied that I was putting off doing nothing, which meant that I was constantly busy. This made my head hurt however and I ended up hating the contrived sounding name. This is me explaining my reasons for using the name PAN and also I got a bit fascinated with the whole thing:
Earlier on in my blog I think I put a reference on here about Pan and how it had something to do with the first digital music downloads or something.
It turns out that Pan is also the Greek name for the god of shepherds and flocks, hunting, mountain wilds and rustic music as well as the companion of the nymphs. Pan is also connected to fertility and the season of Spring. The ancient Greeks also considered Pan to be the god of theatrical criticism.
My initial thoughts about the name Pan were very basic and I immediately thought of Peter Pan because I believe that I will never grow up so it seemed like an appropriate name.
Even though I have seen the film Pan's Labrynth twice I never even associated my name with that name.
I just recently met a designer who has a bit of a thing for Marc Bolan and he had just posted a video about him talking about Pan and how he was inspired by that idea. It felt like some weird psychic connection or something. Anyhoo more Pan talk later.....
